Gurley says limited role vs. Saints was due to performance, not injury

Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley isn't making excuses for a poor performance in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints.

"I was sorry as hell today," Gurley said, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN. "I was sorry. So, C.J. (Anderson) did his thing and the whole team did its thing."

Gurley, who added that he's healthy after a late-season knee injury, received just four carries, gaining only 10 yards on the ground. However, he did score a rushing touchdown late in the first half that brought the Rams back into the game. He caught one of three targets for a three-yard gain.

The two-time All-Pro led the league with 17 regular-season rushing scores, but he played less than half of his team's offensive snaps on Sunday while Anderson piled up 44 yards on 16 carries.

The 24-year-old missed the final two games of the regular season due to inflammation in his left knee. He then returned to rack up 115 yards and a touchdown in last Saturday's divisional-round victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
