The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced the hiring of former Minnesota Vikings assistant John DeFilippo as their new offensive coordinator.

DeFilippo served as the Vikings' offensive coordinator in 2018 before being fired in December. Minnesota hired him away from the Philadelphia Eagles, where he served as the team's quarterbacks coach for two seasons, following Super Bowl LII.

In DeFilippo's second stint as offensive coordinator - he led the Cleveland Browns' scoring unit in 2015 - Minnesota ranked 20th in total offense and 19th in scoring offense.

The 40-year-old began his NFL coaching career as a quality control coach under Tom Coughlin with the New York Giants. Coughlin is now the executive vice president of football operations in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars' scoring unit ranked 31st in the league last season, averaging 15.3 points per game. The team parted ways with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in November.
