Packers' Graham admits he hasn't met expectations: 'My numbers suck'
The Jimmy Graham signing hasn't worked out as the Green Bay Packers once envisioned, and the Pro Bowl tight end admitted it Friday.
"My numbers suck," he told Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
Graham joined the Packers on a three-year, $30-million deal in March after spending the previous three campaigns with the Seattle Seahawks. He was expected to bolster the Packers' passing game - especially in the red zone - but has managed just 549 yards and two touchdown receptions in 13 contests.
The 32-year-old could become a cap casualty after the season, as Green Bay would save about $5 million by cutting him. Graham, though, is hoping for a second chance to work on his spotty connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
"I've always dominated everywhere I went," he said. "Obviously, I haven't done that yet here. So it would be nice to get an opportunity to do it. Come back and maybe just be kind of more comfortable here, but I'm going to give it my all no matter what's asked of me anywhere I go, or if I stay here."
The Packers have cycled through numerous tight ends in recent years. They signed Martellus Bennett to a big-money contract in 2017, but that move didn't work out either.
Graham has been bogged down by a broken thumb in recent weeks, contributing to his ineffectiveness as a receiver.
The 5-7-1 Packers are likely to miss the postseason for a second consecutive year.
