Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy was taken to the locker room early in the second quarter of Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was later ruled out for the season with a fractured right fibula.

McCoy hit his right leg against a defender before exiting the contest.

Mark Sanchez, signed on Nov. 19 after the season-ending injury to Alex Smith, was thrust under center. His first play from scrimmage was a handoff to Adrian Peterson that went 90 yards for a touchdown.

Sanchez has previously played for the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Chicago Bears last season.
