Denver Broncos quarterback Chad Kelly was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal trespassing early Tuesday morning, the Englewood Police Department confirmed in a media release.

Police responded to a call at approximately 1:17 a.m. about a man standing outside a residence, according to the release. While responding, officers learned the man - later identified as Kelly - had gone inside the residence.

Kelly was chased out of the residence by an occupant and was later found inside a black SUV, according to police.

He was placed in custody without further incident and the investigation is ongoing. Kelly appeared in court Tuesday morning, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.

Broncos linebacker Von Miller hosted a Halloween party Monday evening, with several players in attendance. It was a players-only party and wasn't considered an official team event.

TMZ characterized the party's costumes as "cocaine-themed," a notion that cornerback Chris Harris vehemently denied.

"We're obviously very, very disappointed in Chad and the situation that he's put himself into, so we're in the process of getting all the facts and talking to Chad and then we'll figure out exactly which direction we're going to go," Broncos general manager John Elway said Tuesday on Orange & Blue 760.

Elway added, "When the team has a get-together - which is always a good thing, you like when they get together and the camaraderie that goes along with being a team - but when you have one person that kind of puts a dent in the whole process, it's very disappointing. We're going to look into this ... very seriously, because the charges are very, very serious and we understand that."

The 24-year-old Kelly was selected as the final pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, earning the moniker "Mr. Irrelevant."

He didn't play in 2017, but then beat out Paxton Lynch - who was later released - to serve as Case Keenum's backup this season.
