The Philadelphia Eagles are releasing defensive end Vinny Curry, the team confirmed Friday.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network was the first to report the story.

Curry and the team were unable to come to an agreement on a pay cut. Garafolo adds that $5 million of Curry's $9-million base salary for 2018 would have become guaranteed on Sunday.

The six-year veteran started all 16 games last season and all three playoff contests en route to the Super Bowl LII victory.

He becomes one of the top edge defenders on the open market.
