Ben Roethlisberger is tripling down on a public statement from Sunday when he said he's planning to play in 2018, as Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback told teammates he wants to play at least three more seasons.

The 35-year-old has another two years remaining on his current contract, at a base salary of $12 million in both 2018 and 2019, according to Spotrac. His cap hit will be $23.2 million in each season.

Roethlisberger completed 64.2 percent of 561 pass attempts in the regular season, totalling 4,251 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. Five of those interceptions came in a Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

It was a performance Roethlisberger nearly avenged in Sunday's divisional-round mathcup with the Jaguars, as he threw for 469 yards and five touchdowns, with just one interception in the 45-42 loss.
