The New York Giants appear to have zeroed in on Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur as the preferred choice for their head coaching vacancy, and it's believed Shurmur would accept if given an offer, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, citing a source.

The Giants asked the Vikings for permission to interview Shurmur on Jan. 2, and the 52-year-old also received interest from the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals, and Detroit Lions regarding their head coaching vacancies. Shurmur is in his first season as Vikings offensive coordinator after working last season as tight ends coach.

Shurmur has two years of head coaching experience with the Cleveland Browns from 2011-12, and filled in on an interim basis for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015 after Chip Kelly was fired. Shurmur has a career 10-23 head coaching record.
