Report: Cardinals, Fitzgerald close to 1-year extension

Matt Kartozian / USA TODAY Sports

It appears Larry Fitzgerald's run with the Arizona Cardinals won't be ending after 2017 as the club and the star receiver are close to a one-year contract extension, reports Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a source.

The 34-year-old is once again the team's best threat in the passing game, leading the roster by a massive margin in virtually every receiving category. Fitzgerald has 60 catches this season for 677 yards and three touchdowns, more than 25 catches and 300 yards ahead of the next closest Cardinal.

Fitzgerald has been with the Cardinals for his entire 14-year career after being selected third overall in the 2004 NFL Draft. He holds the franchise records for catches, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns and ranks in the top eight in NFL history in each category.
