Disgruntled fan buys anti-NFL billboards for Chargers' homestand

As the Los Angeles Chargers get set for their longest homestand of the season, they need to prepare for foreboding signs overlooking StubHub Center.

Ex-San Diego Chargers fan Joseph McRae designed five anti-NFL messages to be displayed on a digital billboard outside the Los Angeles stadium over the next three weeks.

McRae had previously launched a GoFundMe campaign with the message: "This isn't just for San Diego fans. This is for Oakland fans and St. Louis fans as well. Your cities didn't deserve this and most importantly, you didn't deserve this," according to Troy Hirsch of FOX 5 San Diego.

"Have you been an NFL fan your whole life only to have your team suddenly taken away from your city? You may have been the most loyal and dedicated supporter but it didn't matter in the end. Have you ever wanted to tell the NFL how you actually feel? This is your chance," McRae wrote.

The campaign raised over $10,000.

While McRae's five ads will also feature fans of the Oakland Raiders and the former St. Louis Rams, he claims the root of his disdain is with Chargers owner Dean Spanos.

"If anything we should be uniting so that Dean sells the team and the Chargers have a real chance at success!" McRae wrote in his campaign.

McRae has been told by the billboard company that the ads will be displayed for the full three weeks, despite any potential efforts made by the NFL to have them taken down or blocked.
