Broncos confirm Siemian out for season with partial shoulder separation

Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph confirmed Friday that quarterback Trevor Siemian will be placed on injured reserve with a left shoulder injury.

Siemian was injured in the first quarter of Thursday's game against the Indianapolis Colts. As he scrambled to his right to extend a play, Colts linebacker Barkevious Mingo sacked him and landed on top of him. Siemian suffered a partial dislocation of his left shoulder that won't yet require surgery - only rest and rehab.

Regardless, the injury signals the end of the 2017 season for Siemian, who had recently regained the starting job due to an injury to sophomore quarterback Paxton Lynch.

Backup Brock Osweiler replaced Siemian in Thursday's game and led the Broncos to a 25-13 victory. Osweiler played well, completing 12 of 17 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns, but with Lynch now available, Joseph has yet to make a decision on who will play in the team's Week 16 game against the Washington Redskins.

"I'm not sure. We've got two healthy guys there," he said. "Obviously, Paxton being a young guy, we want to see him play more. So that part will have some bearing. Brock played really well last night. He made some big-time throws, his leadership showed ... that's going to be a long and hard conversation,"

Joseph added that the Broncos likely won't add a third quarterback.
