Alouettes work out former NFL QB Josh Freeman

The Saskatchewan Roughriders may not be the only team bringing in a prominent NFL quarterback.

Former NFL pivot Josh Freeman worked out for the Montreal Alouettes on Tuesday, according to Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette. Montreal acquired Darian Durant in an offseason trade to be the starter and Vernon Adams Jr. remains on the roster from last year, so signing Freeman likely wouldn't be anything more than a depth addition.

Freeman last played in the NFL in 2015 with the Indianapolis Colts, but is best known for his time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The former first-round pick had a pair of seasons with the Bucs in which he threw at least 25 touchdowns, as well as a 4,000-yard passing campaign in 2012.
