Former standout Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy has died at the age of 48, the NFL announced Tuesday.

The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

Kennedy was an eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time All Pro. He was among the most dominant members of the Seahawks during his 11-year career, spanning from 1990-2000.

Kennedy was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2012.

Kennedy played in every game for the first seven years of his career. He started every game he played in, except for the 16 games during his rookie season.

As a pass-rushing tackle, Kennedy recorded 58 total sacks. He was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 1992 after he recorded 14 sacks and four forced fumbles.
