A.J. Styles' WrestleMania debut on Sunday night at AT&T Stadium did not go according to plan against the wily veteran Chris Jericho.
As Styles looked to deliver his phenomenal forearm off the top rope, "Y2J" reversed the maneuver in mid-air by dropping his opponent with a vicious codebreaker. That was enough to keep Styles down for the three count, as Jericho emerged with the hard-fought victory.
This was the fourth singles bout between the two since Styles debuted with World Wrestling Entertainment back at the "Royal Rumble" on Jan. 24.
With Jericho's victory, the series between the two is now locked at 2-2.
Styles had previously wrestled for New Japan Pro Wrestling before making his way to WWE. By competing at "Wrestle Kingdom 10" on Jan. 4, he becomes the first professional wrestler to appear at NJPW's signature show, as well as WrestleMania in one calendar year.
