It was the second medal in as many days for Canada in snowboard cross after Meryeta O'Dine claimed bronze in the women's event Wednesday. It also marks a strong showing by Canadian snowboarders in general, as they have now won four medals in Beijing including Max Parrot's gold and Mark McMorris' silver in slopestyle.
Grondin's medal came just about a half-hour after Jack Crawford won Canada's ninth medal of the Games and the first-ever for the country in Alpine combined.
