The Milwaukee Bucks have signed rookie Mamadi Diakite to a multi-year, standard NBA contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Milwaukee originally signed Diakite to a two-way deal after he went undrafted in 2020 following a standout career at Virginia that included a national championship in 2019.

One of two Guinean players to suit up in the NBA, Diakite has appeared in 11 games with the Bucks this season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.3 rebounds in 8.6 minutes per game.

Diakite also played 12 contests for the G League's Lakeland Magic in 2020-21, earning All-NBA G League first-team, All-Defensive team, and All-Rookie team honors. The 24-year-old posted 18.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and 2.1 assists per game.
