Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James can now add children's book author to his resume.

James will be releasing his first children's book, "I PROMISE," on Aug. 11 as part of a deal with HarperCollins Publishers, according to Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today. It will be followed by a second book aimed toward middle-grade students in the summer of 2021.

"Books have the ability to teach, inspire, and bring people together," James said in a press release. "That's why these books, and the opportunity to get children and parents reading together, mean so much to me.

"Most importantly, we wanted to make sure these stories are ones that every single kid can see themselves in. 'I PROMISE' is powerful in that way, and I can't wait for people to read it."

James launched his I PROMISE program in 2011. The oldest class in his I Promise Network was recently granted four years of free tuition to Kent State University.
