College football Week 12 trend plays: Fade Penn State after a loss

Every week, we'll go over some betting trends that apply to the college football slate. Here's what's on tap for Week 12:

Indiana at Penn State

Certain head coaches are great at rebounding following a loss. Penn State's James Franklin is not one of them.

The Nittany Lions are currently on a 2-12-2 run against the spread after suffering an outright loss under Franklin. They've fallen into the angle for the first time this season after losing 31-26 at Minnesota last week.

Trend play: Indiana +15

Eastern Michigan at Akron

Akron is 0-9 ATS this season. That's it. That's the blurb.

Trend play: Eastern Michigan -17

Ohio State at Rutgers

Apparently, you don't have to get cute to make money these days. After failing the cover the first game of the season, No. 1 Ohio State has ripped off eight straight for bettors. The Buckeyes have been flawless ATS on the first-half line, which should be an astronomical number against lowly Rutgers.

Trend play: Ohio State 1H

Navy at Notre Dame

Speaking of teams hot on the first-half line, Navy is also perfect this year. We recommended playing the Midshipmen in Week 10 against UConn, and all they did was storm out to a 28-10 lead heading into the half.

Trend play: Navy 1H

Kentucky at Vanderbilt

Want a cheat sheet for playing Kentucky totals? Play over against non-conference opponents and under versus in-conference ones. The Wildcats have gone over the total in each of their last six against non-conference foes, but are on a 13-2 run to the under versus SEC competition.

Trend play: Under 43.5

Troy at Texas State

Texas State will likely become an "over" team in the near future with Jake Spavital running the show. For now, you can continue hitting some unders, particularly in this spot: The Bobcats are 13-2 to the first-half under when they're getting points.

Trend play: 1H under

Fresno State at San Diego State

Death, taxes, and Fresno State's Jeff Tedford coming through as an underdog. He got the top spot in our Week 10 piece when the Bulldogs were two-point 'dogs at Hawaii, and he responded with an outright win. Tedford enters Saturday on a blistering 11-2-1 run ATS as an underdog.

Trend play: Fresno State +1.5

Syracuse at Duke

Duke's been a great play to the over when laying points. The Blue Devils have gone over the total in each of the last seven games when listed as favorites.

Trend play: Over 54.5
