Julian Edelman has his sights set on Hollywood.

After releasing his Showtime documentary, "100%: Julian Edelman," in June, the New England Patriots wide receiver and reigning Super Bowl MVP is now looking to expand his portfolio to include narrative features and television series.

Edelman, who recently launched Coast Productions with marketing executive Assaf Swissa, told Tatiana Siegel of The Hollywood Reporter that he's about to start shopping a TV series based on his rookie season.

"It's going to be loosely based off the early part of my career," Edelman said. "Everyone thinks that NFL football players are like the show 'Ballers,' when in fact, probably 65-to-75 percent of the guys are scratching for a roster spot. They are not known. We all have helmets. There are only a handful of guys that are known.

"When I was a rookie, Tom Brady was talking about taking a helicopter to the Hamptons with his supermodel wife while I'm about to go to (an Irish pub near the stadium) and not be recognized. You know what I mean?"

Edelman is also developing a romantic comedy written by Swissa.

"I probably wouldn't star in it, but I'd definitely have a role," Edelman said. "It's a football rom-com. I love rom-coms. Does that make me weird? I don't know. But I will be producing and maybe find a role."

The 33-year-old is entering his 10th season with the Patriots. He caught 74 passes for 850 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games last season.
