Welcome to the 5 Things recap by theScore's Anthony Lopopolo, which highlights AC Milan's performances over the 2018-19 season. Here's a breakdown of Milan's 3-0 victory over Cagliari.

1. Milan attack with more gusto

It was clear from the opening whistle that Milan didn't want to waste time on the ball, playing at a quicker tempo than we've seen in some time. They moved up the pitch with a greater purpose. It actually looked like a plan was in place. Unlike previous matches, Milan pushed the ball forward as soon as they could, attempting riskier passes to get into more dangerous areas of the pitch. They were rewarded for that heady approach, scoring twice within the first half-hour of play. Even the counterattack - one of Milan's primary weaknesses this season - was incisive. If not for a few bad touches, Milan would've scored more than the three goals.

2. Paqueta a composed force in midfield

Paqueta dedicated his first goal for Milan to the victims of the fire that tore through Flamengo's training ground. As a former player, the 21-year-old was visibly shaken, but his performance on Sunday was further evidence of his strength of character. Paqueta was a positive presence on the pitch, holding the ball when his teammates needed a second and bursting forward when space presented itself. The goal - which was struck sweetly from Davide Calabria's cross - was the least he deserved. Paqueta contributed so much to Milan's overall buildup play.

3. Calhanoglu's goalless streak continues

No one can criticize Hakan Calhanoglu's level of effort against Cagliari - that's why he was applauded off the pitch - but effort alone isn't enough. He had three golden opportunities to end his scoreless streak and flubbed each one. His shots were too central and his touches let him down. Calhanoglu has fought these mental battles all season. Gennaro Gattuso has obviously told the 25-year-old to keep shooting from distance - no matter the consequences - but it's hard to justify when he's so wasteful.

4. Calabria continues to impress at right-back

Davide Calabria has become an important two-way player for Milan, making crucial plays in every area of the pitch. His deep cross to Paqueta was exceptional, but so were his defensive recoveries. Calabria drew two important fouls in Milan's end of the pitch to relieve a spell of pressure. It's important for modern-day full-backs to do a little bit of everything, and Calabria has demonstrated that on a consistent basis.

5. Donnarumma delivers when called upon

To no one's surprise, Gianluigi Donnarumma made another series of fantastic saves on Sunday. When his teammates slipped up, Donnarumma was there to mop up the mess. The 19-year-old wasn't overworked like he was against Roma, only intervening when the moment called for a save. And like all season, Donnarumma delivered. His return to form is one of the stories of the season and a development that's good for both Milan and Italian football as a whole.
