The 106th edition of the Australian Open kicked off Sunday night, which to the pleasure of fans and players, ended an annual four-month drought of Grand Slam tennis.
And just a day in, history has already been made.
With Serena Williams withdrawing from the tournament and her sister Venus suffering an upset at the hands of Australian Belinda Bencic in the opening round, there will be no Williams sister in the second round of the tournament for the first time since 1997.
