Alabama head coach Nick Saban tested positive for COVID-19, the school announced Wednesday, per Brett McMurphy of The Athletic.

"This morning we received notification coach Saban tested positive for COVID-19. He has very mild symptoms, so this test will not be categorized as a potential false positive," Alabama said in a statement. "He will follow all appropriate guidelines and isolate at home."

Saban will go into 10-day isolation and not be able to coach Saturday's Iron Bowl against Auburn, according to Ross Dellenger of Sports Illustrated.

The 69-year-old previously tested positive for the virus on Oct. 14 but was asymptomatic.

It was considered a false positive as Saban tested negatively for three straight days, allowing him to coach against Georgia on Nov. 3.

Saban said he's the only person at Alabama to test positive and isn't experiencing symptoms like fever or muscle aches, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.

The head coach also said he will be involved in team preparations via Zoom, and that offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will oversee in-building operations.

"You've got to be able to deal with disruptions this year," added Saban.

Saban joins a long list of FBS coaches who've tested positive for the coronavirus this season:

Alabama is 7-0 and was awarded the No. 1 spot in the first edition of this season's College Football Playoff Top 25 on Tuesday night.
