Georgia State is postponing Saturday's game against Charlotte "out of an abundance of caution" due to positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing within its program, it was announced Friday.

"We are obviously disappointed for our team but certainly respect Georgia State's decision and look forward to starting league play next weekend at (Florida Atlantic)," Charlotte athletic director Mike Hill said in a statement.

Charlotte has now had games called off in two consecutive weeks. Last week's scheduled matchup with North Carolina was canceled after three 49ers players tested positive and regulated 14-day quarantines left the team's offensive line depleted.

Charlotte lost its opening game against Appalachian State 35-20 and is next scheduled to play Florida Atlantic on Oct. 3.

Georgia State is next scheduled to play East Carolina on Oct. 3.
