Orgeron: LSU's title-winning squad 'a team for the ages'

LSU capped a storybook season Monday, completing an undefeated campaign by dethroning the reigning national champions.

The Tigers went 15-0 and became the first No. 1 seed in College Football Playoff history to win the national championship, knocking off Clemson 42-25 in the title game. On Tuesday, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron sang his squad's praises.

"This is a team for the ages, especially how prolific we were on offense, and to have that type of quarterback that we have, to go 15-0 and to beat the teams that we beat, all the top teams that we played," Orgeron said, according to ESPN's Andrea Adelson.

LSU took down seven top-10 opponents over the course of its perfect season, a run of dominance fueled by the winners of the Heisman (quarterback Joe Burrow), Biletnikoff (receiver Ja'Marr Chase), and Thorpe (safety Grant Delpit) awards.

"We had a tremendous schedule. We answered the bell. These guys didn't blink," Orgeron said. "We didn't have a bad game. We played 15 good football games, and this is going to be hard to beat."
