Georgia Tech found its replacement for Paul Johnson, announcing Friday that Temple's Geoff Collins will be the program's next head coach.

Reports Thursday suggested Collins had emerged as the top candidate for the Yellow Jackets' vacancy.

Collins is wrapping up his second year at Temple and has guided the Owls to a 15-10 record during his tenure. The former Florida defensive coordinator took over when Matt Rhule left for Baylor.

A native of the Peach State, Collins served Georgia Tech as a graduate assistant from 1999-2001. He returned to the school as the director of player personnel for a season in 2006.

Johnson announced his retirement last week after 11 seasons with the program.
