Louisville will unveil Appalachian State's Scott Satterfield as its new head coach Tuesday, a source told Jake Lourim and Danielle Lerner of the Louisville Courier Journal.

The Cardinals picked Satterfield to take over the program after whiffing on Jeff Brohm, an alumnus of the university who elected to stay at Purdue.

Satterfield will jump to the ACC after spending six seasons at his alma mater. He steered the Mountaineers to three consecutive Sun Belt titles from 2016-18 and often proved to be a tough out versus Power 5 teams. Overall, he amassed a 51-24 record.

The 45-year-old will inherit a Cardinals team that sputtered to a 2-10 record this year but won at least eight games in each of the previous six seasons.

Louisville fired Bobby Petrino as its head coach Nov. 11. Secondary coach Lorenzo Ward took charge for the Cardinals' final two games of the season - losses against NC State and Kentucky.
