Former Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze reportedly interviewed to become Tennessee's new offensive coordinator, a source told Yahoo Sports' Pete Thamel.

Earlier this week, Tyson Helton vacated the Tennessee position to accept the head coaching job at Western Kentucky.

Freeze resigned from Ole Miss in July 2017 after program administrators discovered his university-issued cell phone had been used to contact a female escort service. The Rebels received a two-year bowl ban as well as other punishments for numerous recruiting violations that occurred during his tenure, including providing financial benefits to players.

Earlier in 2018, it was reported that SEC commissioner Greg Sankey discouraged Alabama from hiring Freeze as co-offensive coordinator and position coach.

In five seasons at Ole Miss, Freeze amassed a 39-25 overall record, as well as a Sugar Bowl victory after the 2015 season and two wins over a Nick Saban-led Alabama team.
