Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin came out in support of potential health-related changes to football Thursday following critical comments from North Carolina coach Larry Fedora.

Fedora claimed Wednesday that the game is "under attack" and downplayed links between the sport and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

"I am, definitely," Kiffin said while at Conference USA media days, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN. "Because you see these long-term issues with these older NFL players.

"What's the most important thing? Long-term health, or how the game looks?"

Kiffin added that while it's "accurate" that football is changing as more research is conducted into brain-related injuries, he doesn't view the developments as a negative.

"I think the changes in the game that will continue to come are going to help people's concerns," he said.
