Dug McDaniel poured in 20 points and all five Kansas State starters scored in double digits as the Wildcats stunned No. 3 Iowa State 80-61 on its own floor Saturday.

The result ended a streak of 29 consecutive home wins for the Cyclones, whose previous loss at Hilton Coliseum was a 72-69 defeat against West Virginia on Feb. 27, 2023.

It's also the first time a top-5 side has lost by 15 or more points at home to a sub-.500 team in the AP Poll era.

"It shows how resilient we are and how capable we are," McDaniel said, according to the Kansas City Star's Kellis Robinett. "Not many people may believe in us, but we show up every day at practice and we believe. We brought that fight here today."

Wildcats senior guard Coleman Hawkins added 17 points with seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists in the win, shooting 5-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-3 from deep. Kansas State was highly efficient from distance as a team, shooting a combined 10-of-20 on threes as part of a 26-of-58 overall performance from the field.

"We haven't won a road game in a while, and I took it personally as a coach," head coach Jerome Tang said. "I was thankful I had a team that took it personally also and gave us this opportunity."

Tamin Lipsey scored 20 points for the Cyclones and Curtis Jones tallied 14 and six rebounds.

Villanova is the only program to suffer a larger margin of defeat to an unranked team while ranked in the top five within the past 30 years, according to CBS Sports' Matt Norlander. The then fourth-ranked Wildcats fell by 30 to Creighton on Jan. 20, 2014, eclipsing Iowa State's 19-point loss Saturday.
