Stephen F. Austin forward Nathan Bain's buzzer-beating layup to defeat Duke on Tuesday not only entered him into college basketball lore - it's also helping his family.

Bain, a native of the Bahamas, saw his family home and the church where his father is a minister both get severely damaged by Hurricane Dorian in September. A GoFundMe page created in the wake of the storm picked up traction after Bain's game-winning bucket and had easily surpassed its goal of $50,000 by Wednesday afternoon.

"My family lost a whole lot this year," an emotional Bain told ESPN after the Lumberjacks' 85-83 overtime win. He added, "I'm just playing this game for them ... I just want to make my country proud."

Bain, a fifth-year senior, has started 31 of 36 games over the past two seasons, averaging 5.5 points per contest.
