Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel will meet with Miami Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard on Tuesday in regards to the school's head coaching vacancy, sources told The Michigan Insider's Josh Henschke.

The 46-year-old Howard played three seasons at Michigan between 1991-94, memorably forming part of the "Fab Five" in his first year along with Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson. He then carved out a 19-year career in the NBA in which he spent a majority with the Washington Wizards but also had stints with the Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers, and the Heat.

Howard has been a reported candidate for a number of NBA head coaching jobs this summer. He was most recently linked with the Minnesota Timberwolves, though the club is also said to be considering retaining interim head coach Ryan Saunders on a permanent basis.

The Wolverines are searching to replace John Beilein, who was hired by the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this week - another coaching vacancy Howard was reportedly in the running for.
