Just when you think you've seen everything in college basketball, here comes a stuffed animal to play a pivotal role in the result of a game.
Mississippi State senior Quinndary Weatherspoon attempted the first of his two free throws with 0.5 seconds remaining in a 67-67 game against Georgia on Wednesday. As the ball hit the rim, a stuffed animal was thrown on the court by a fan, resulting in a technical foul being assessed to the Bulldogs.
Weatherspoon converted his technical free throw and intentionally missed the second attempt he was already set to take, running out the clock and giving Mississippi State the one-point victory.
