The new number to beat is 1,099 and counting.

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski now has the most victories in Division I basketball history, surpassing Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt on Saturday. He's now 1,099-337 in his 43-year coaching career, which includes 38 years with the Blue Devils.

Krzyzewski's record-clinching victory came in the Round of 32 against Rhode Island. Now in the Sweet 16, he'll look to add to his five NCAA championships - all of them with Duke.

Coach K praised Summitt in his postgame interview, saying: "The lady who had that record would have won hundreds more. Pat Summitt was as good of a coach as there was."

Summitt won eight NCAA championships with the Lady Volunteers in 38 years as head coach, coaching her last season in 2012 after she contracted early-onset Alzheimer's disease. She died in 2016 at the age of 64.
