Kansas' Preston out vs. Kentucky after 'single-vehicle incident' on campus

Kansas freshman Billy Preston, who was expected to make his Jayhawks debut Tuesday after being suspended for Friday's season opener, will not play against Kentucky after he was involved in a single-vehicle incident on campus, coach Bill Self announced in a statement.

The forward was apparently not injured in the incident, though Self admitted Preston will be sidelined until the school concludes an investigation into the matter.

"There were no injuries but Billy's car sustained damage. ... The administration determined that we needed a clearer financial picture specific to the vehicle, we decided to hold him out of tonight's game and will continue to do that until the review is complete," he said.

Preston had previously been suspended for Kansas' first game of the season for failing to abide by the team's curfew and not attending class.

The five-star recruit averaged 11 points and 3.7 assists in three preseason games for Kansas. He also played in the McDonald's All-American Game in July, finishing with 10 points and three rebounds in 16 minutes.
