Darius Garland, a five-star point guard and the 11th-ranked recruit in the nation, announced Monday he has committed to Vanderbilt, according to Evan Daniels of Scout.com.
A Tennessee native, Garland admitted he wanted to remain close to his roots.
"Me and my family had a long conversation a couple of weeks (ago) and they really wanted me to stay home," Garland said, according to Daniels. "Me and (Commodores head coach) Bryce Drew had a long conversation and we've been knowing each other a while now since he's been at (a school in) Indiana.
"It was the best fit for me."
According to ESPN, Garland is ranked the second-best point guard recruit of the 2018 class, just behind Tre Jones, who sits 10th overall.
