Former Ohio State guard JaQuan Lyle broke his silence after being charged with three separate misdemeanors Sunday, issuing a public apology for his actions.

Lyle issued the apology via Twitter, thanking Ohio State for the opportunity that he was given. He was charged with public intoxication, criminal mischief to a vehicle, and disorderly conduct after punching the front door of a bar as well as a police car, according to police records obtained by Pat Hickey of the Evansville Courier & Press.

Lyle had already quit the team April 11, according to Tim Shoemaker of Eleven Warriors, citing a team spokesman.

"Last weekend was something that I still cannot believe happened, but unfortunately it did and for that I want to apologize to the city of Evansville, police department, and my family," Lyle said. "Those actions weren't me, and don't define me as a person. I hope one day, I'll be able to be a role model to young kids again."

Lyle was a productive member for the Buckeyes last season, averaging 11.4 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.2 rebounds in 29.3 minutes.
