Russell Westbrook grabbed 16 rebounds as part of a 23-point triple-double to help the Sacramento Kings edge the shorthanded Golden State Warriors 121-116 on Wednesday.

His 16 boards are the most he's recorded in a game since May 8, 2021, when he collected 19 for the Washington Wizards in an overtime win over the Indiana Pacers.

"Humbly speaking, I'm the best rebounding guard ever," Westbrook said postgame when asked about his success on the glass, courtesy of ABC10. "When the ball comes across the rim, I'm gonna get it."

What Westbrook didn't realize, however, was that he'd just clinched the numbers to support his claim.

The performance brought his total to 8,734 career rebounds, overtaking the 8,725 tallied by Hall of Famer and current Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd for the most by any guard in NBA history.

"Oh. Honestly, I didn't even know it was tonight," he said after learning he had set the record. "I need to get that game ball. Can somebody get it for me? ... I need that."

Wednesday marked Westbrook's second straight game with at least 23 points and 10 boards and the 204th triple-double of his career, extending the all-time NBA record he first broke in May 2021.
