Steph drops 52 points, 12 treys in win over Grizzlies
Stephen Curry erupted for 52 points and 12 threes in the Golden State Warriors' 134-125 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday.
Curry also recorded 10 rebounds, eight assists, and five steals in the win after posting 32 points and eight triples in the first half.
The 11-time All-Star now holds the NBA record for the most games with 12-plus 3-pointers, boasting four such performances for his career, according to Statmuse.
The 37-year-old also joins Rick Barry and Anthony Davis as the only NBA players ever to put up a 50-10-5-5 stat line, per Stathead.
"The guy is 37 years old," Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said postgame, according to ESPN. "Just incredible. Fifty-two points with people draped all over him all game long. The conditioning, the skill, the audacity, the belief - it's just incredible to watch Steph at work."
Curry hit his 10th three with more than nine minutes remaining in the third quarter, and it seemed he might have a chance at more milestones. His former teammate, Klay Thompson, holds the record for triples made in a single game, scoring 14 against the Chicago Bulls in 2018 while with the Warriors.
However, Curry failed to reach the feat, going 1-of-4 on his attempts from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter.
"The first two threes of the fourth quarter, I definitely was thinking about Klay," Curry said, per NBCS. "This is as close as I've been with (that) amount of time left. But then after that, reality check. We gotta win the game, so you don't want to sabotage anything."
Tuesday's production is the second time Curry has dropped 50-plus points this season following a 56-point outing in a win over the Orlando Magic on Feb. 27.
Draymond Green had a triple-double Tuesday with 13 points, 10 boards, and 12 assists, while Jimmy Butler scored 27 points.
Ja Morant led the Grizzlies with 36 points, three rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
Tuesday's win pushed the Warriors over Memphis for fifth in the West.
