Report: Bucks starting Jackson instead of Trent
The Milwaukee Bucks will shake things up Thursday by adding guard Andre Jackson Jr. to the starting lineup versus the Utah Jazz in place of Gary Trent Jr., according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.
Jackson's appeared in six games for the Bucks this season, playing 12 minutes per game. The second-year guard is averaging 2.7 points, 1.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds.
His best showing this season came against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. He put up seven points, two assists, and seven rebounds while draining two 3-pointers.
Jackson started eight games in 2023-24. In those starts, he averaged 4.0 points, 1.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 50% from the field in 20.3 minutes of action.
Trent has started all seven of Milwaukee's games thus far and has struggled in 29.6 minutes per night. He's averaging 8.0 points - which would be his lowest mark since his rookie campaign - to go along with 1.0 assists and 1.6 rebounds. He's shooting 28.8% from the field and 23.1% from beyond the arc, which would be career worsts.
The 25-year-old is no stranger to being a sixth man; he came off the bench for the Toronto Raptors in 55 games over parts of four seasons, averaging 12.0 points per game, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists, according to StatMuse.
The Bucks have lost six straight since winning their season opener and are tied with the Philadelphia 76ers and Utah Jazz for the worst record in the NBA. They were without former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo for their last game, a loss to the undefeated Cavs.
