Zion sidelined at least 3 weeks with hamstring strain
New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson will be re-evaluated in three weeks after suffering a right hamstring strain in Monday's contest against the Philadelphia 76ers, the team announced Tuesday.
Williamson suffered the injury in the third quarter and was walking gingerly before leaving the game. He finished with 26 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.
The 22-year-old has missed eight games this season: two in October due to back pain, three in November due to a foot injury, and three more while in health and safety protocols.
New Orleans is also currently missing star Brandon Ingram, who's been sidelined since Nov. 25 due to a toe injury.
The trio of Williamson, Ingram, and CJ McCollum has played in just 10 games together this season, according to ESPN's Andrew Lopez. They haven't shared the floor since Nov. 21, The Athletic's Will Guillory adds.
Williamson is averaging 26 points, seven rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 29 contests.
The former No. 1 overall pick signed a five-year, $193-million contract extension with the Pelicans in July.
