NBA fines Durant $15K for using profane language in interview

The NBA has fined Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant $15,000 for using profane language during a media interview and failing to comply with an NBA Security interview, the league announced Friday.
Durant's comments, which came following the Nets' loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Jan. 10, were in response to a question about Brooklyn's recent stretch playing four games in five nights. That span included flights from Brooklyn to Portland and Portland to Chicago.
"Who cares? It's a part of the game. It's part of who we are. ... They throw shit at you, you got to figure out how to work around it," Durant said. "I'm not making no excuses about no flights or our schedule. Everyone's schedule is fucked up, you know what I'm saying?"
Durant chose not to discuss his specific conduct with NBA Security, which prompted the fine. The league gives a player a chance to explain their behavior before handing down a penalty, according to The Associated Press' Brian Mahoney.
The 33-year-old superstar is in the midst of an MVP-caliber season for the Nets. He's averaging a league-leading 29.7 points on 52% shooting, as well as 7.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
