Sexton, Bridges headline players without rookie contract extensions
Each first-rounder from 2018 currently on a rookie deal who didn't sign an extension will now be a restricted free agent next summer if they get a qualifying offer. That means their current team can match any contract opposing squads offer.
Sexton, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 draft, ranks third in total points in his class, only behind stars Luka Doncic and Trae Young. Both those players signed maximum contract extensions this offseason.
Bridges, selected 12th in the draft, is seemingly on the verge of a breakout with the Hornets after shooting 40% from deep last season and developing chemistry with point guard LaMelo Ball.
Sacramento Kings power forward Marvin Bagley III (No. 2 overall), Orlando Magic center Mo Bamba (No. 6), and New York Knicks forward Kevin Knox (No. 9) round out the lottery picks who didn't come to terms on a new deal.
Both Bagley and Bamba have dealt with injuries and inconsistent play over their careers thus far, while Knox has struggled to crack the Knicks' rotation.
