Luka Doncic continued his NBA ascent Sunday, albeit in a losing cause. The Dallas Mavericks phenom finished with 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 15 assists - passing Michael Jordan on the all-time list with 29 triple-doubles - but lost at home to the Chicago Bulls.

Doncic was candid afterward.

"The second half, I played terrible," the 21-year-old told reporters. "That's on me, that game. I was being selfish a little bit because I had 30 points in the first half. That wasn't me in the second half. I've got to do way better than that. That's just on me. I shouldn't be doing this."

When asked to clarify what he meant, Doncic said he was "just taking some shots I shouldn't be taking."

Doncic compiled most of his stats in the first half, but the Mavs still trailed by 15 at the break. He shot just 2-of-11 in the second half. The team was missing six players either due to injury or health and safety protocols.

"The stats are spectacular," Mavs coach Rick Carlisle said of Doncic. "I mean, 36, 16, and 15, it's phenomenal. But without a win, he won't be happy with it, either. Right now, we're entering the most difficult seven days of scheduling in Mavericks history. Individual stats are impressive, but we're in the business of trying to win games."

Dallas plays its next three games on the road against the Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, and San Antonio Spurs.
