LeBron James revealed he was hoping to team up with Luka Doncic at Nike before the Dallas Mavericks star inked a deal with Jordan Brand.

On the latest episode of the "Road Trippin' Podcast," James spoke about his desire to start "Team LeBron" at Nike and sign Doncic.

"When Luka was going through his contract negotiations with Nike and you saw him at one point he was wearing Jordans, he started wearing the other brands ... I wanted to begin 'Team LeBron' and have Luka as my first signee with Nike," James said.

"This is what I wanted and I don't believe that my guys at Nike was ready for that - and obviously they were not because he ended up going to Jordan. And I don't even know if Luka knows this, but he would know it now."

Doncic signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Jordan Brand in December 2019, joining an NBA roster already including Zion Williamson, Russell Westbrook, and Jayson Tatum.
