The Dallas Mavericks re-signed J.J. Barea to a one-year, $2.6-million contract, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

The deal is fully guaranteed, Charania adds.

Barea appeared in just 29 games last season after recovering from surgery for a torn Achilles tendon in January 2019. He averaged 7.7 points and 3.9 assists and shot 37.6% from distance in 15.5 minutes per game as his on-court role was reduced.

The 36-year-old guard is entering his 15th season in the league. Barea was signed by the Mavericks in 2006 after going undrafted. He ultimately left for the Minnesota Timberwolves as a free agent in 2011 after helping Dallas win the NBA title. Following three seasons in Minnesota, he returned to the Mavericks in 2014 and has played there since.
