Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and his wife, Connie, are contributing more than $25 million through the Ballmer Group toward coronavirus relief efforts in Los Angeles, Seattle, and his home state of Michigan, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk.

Washington Medicine's Emergency Response Fund will receive 40% of the donation, as the hope is it advances the timetable for testing of a potential COVID-19 vaccine.

The former Microsoft executive's latest donation comes after the Ballmer Group pledged $1 million last week toward assisting community groups in Los Angeles who've been severely impacted by the pandemic. That included a $250,000 donation to the Los Angeles County's Office of Education and the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Ballmer's Clippers also joined their Staples Center co-tenants, the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Kings, on March 14 to create a fund that provides financial support to hourly event staff impacted by both the NBA and NHL suspending their respective seasons.

Ballmer is the NBA's wealthiest owner with a net worth of $51.8 billion.
