Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks briefly entered concussion protocol after a second-quarter fall Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN's Baxter Holmes.

Doncic went down hard in the lane, but remained in the game to hit his free throws.

He left for the remainder of the first half, but returned for the second. He finished with 19 points and seven assists.

"It was scary," Doncic said. "I fell on my back, hit my head and my elbow. I was OK."

Though Doncic returned, it wasn't all good news for the Mavs, who in addition to losing the game 108-95, also lost shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. to a hamstring injury.

"We're very optimistic that this can be a short-term thing," coach Rick Carlisle said. "We'll see. It's going to most likely be day-to-day."

Dallas wraps up its three-game road trip Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
