Portland Trail Blazers wing Rodney Hood tore his left Achilles tendon in the first quarter of Friday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the team announced.

The injury comes less than 48 hours after the 27-year-old subbed out Wednesday's game against the Sacramento Kings after complaining about Achilles soreness, according to The Athletic's Jason Quick.

Hood dealt with left Achilles soreness at various points over the past two seasons, missing games in April 2018 and again between December and January of 2018-19.

Former teammates immediately began to pay their respects to their injured friend.

Hood entered Friday's contest averaging 11.5 points and 3.5 rebounds across 20 outings, all of which have been starts. His 30.5 minutes per game were the most he's received since the 2015-16 season.

He holds a $6-million player option for the 2020-21 campaign.
