Brooklyn Nets wing Caris LeVert is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair ligaments in his right thumb, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

LeVert missed Tuesday's game against the Utah Jazz after he was initially diagnosed with a sprained thumb.

A gruesome right foot injury in 2018-19 caused LeVert to miss nearly three months, derailing an early All-Star bid.

However, the 25-year-old rebounded nicely this season in place of injured star forward Kevin Durant. LeVert was averaging 16.8 points, five boards, and four assists across nine appearances.

With LeVert, Durant, and Wilson Chandler all out of action, Brooklyn signed Iman Shumpert on Wednesday for some additional wing depth.

Brooklyn (4-6) continues its five-game road trip in Denver on Thursday.
