On the latest episode of his show "Last Week Tonight," comedian John Oliver defended the actions of Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey, a central figure in the NBA's ongoing tension with its Chinese business partners.

However, while supporting Morey's right to voice his support of pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong, Oliver took the opportunity to pick apart one of the longtime NBA executive's minor transactions:

"What I'm saying is, Daryl, your tweet about Hong Kong was totally fine. Nothing to apologize for there," Oliver said. "But when it comes to Marquese Chriss, you f----- up, Daryl. And I'm not even a Rockets fan. I'm just a fan of competent midseason roster moves."

Chriss made just 16 appearances with Houston last season, averaging only 1.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in 6.5 minutes per game. He was moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a three-team deal at last February's trade deadline. The Rockets received wing depth in return for Chriss.

The No. 8 pick in 2016 signed with the Golden State Warriors this offseason.
